Study of Essential Oil of Needles of Three-Needled Pine
(Pinus kesiya Royle)
Three-needled pine (Khasi pine) is one of the most planted pine in Vietnam. The essential oil of needles from pines, grown in Lam Dong, was extracted by conventional heating and microwave irradiation. The physical and chemical properties of the oil were measured. GC/MS and GC/FID analysis of the oil’s chemical composition shows the main components are α-pinene (38 - 42%), β-phellandrene, caryophyllene and germacrene D. Effecting factors of the oil yield and its antibacterial properties were studied.
