Adjuvant anti-cancer effect of three Ganoderma species (G. lucidum, G, applanatum,
G. lobatum) in Sarcoma 180
The present study was designed to evaluate the adjuvant anti-cancer effect of ethanolic and aqueous extracts from three species: Ganoderma applanatum , G. lobatum and G. lucidum in mice bearing transplanted Sarcoma 180 cells. The results have demonstrated that:
- The anti-cancer effect of G. lucidum and G. applanartum extracts in the mice transplanted with Sarcoma 180 cells was not clear. The aqueous extracts of G. lobatum (1200 mg/kg body weight) had the highest antitumor activity according to H. Itokawa (1989) evaluation scale. This preparation inhibited by 73,8% the tumor biomass.
- The combination of Ganoderma extracts with Cisplatin had better effect in treatment of mice transplanted with Sarcoma 180 cells.
+ The tested samples decreased the growth ratio by 0,33% to 1,35%, and inhibited the tumor biomass by 98,65 to 99,67%.
+ The Ganoderma extracts decreased the side effects of Cisplatin, increased the count of blood red cells (1,50 to 2,78 x 1012/L), blood white cells (0,10 to 2,93 x 109/L) as well as lymphocytes ratio (6 to 11%).
- The aqueous extract of G. lobatum showed the best adjuvant effect in combination with Cisplatin in the treatment of mice transplanted with Sarcoma 180 cells.
