Isolation and structure determination of a flavonolignan and two flavonoids from introduced Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn. fruit
By various chromatography methods, one flavonolignan and two flavonoids were isolated from the methanol extract of the fruits of Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn. having been introduced in Vietnam. Their structures were determined to be 2,3-dehydrosilychristin (1), quercetin (2) and quercitrin (3) by using combination of IR, ESI and NMR techniques including 1D- and 2D-NMR. These compounds were first isolated from Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn. cultivated in Vietnam.
