Development of a Method for Simultaneous Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Naringin and Hesperidin in Peels of CitrusFruits by High Performance Liquid Chromatography
The objective of this study is to establish a method for analysis of simultaneous quanlitation and quantitation of naringin and hesperidin from peels of Citrus fruits. Flavonoids were extracted by methanol from materials using sonicator. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with a UV detector in a chromatographic run of around 20 min was applied. Calibration was carried out with spiked reference samples subjected to the entire analytical procedure. Most analytes were quantified with errors less than 6% and precision in terms of reproducibility standard deviation was less than 5%. These results indicate that this method can be applied to simultaneously analyze naringin and hesperidin in Citrus peel samples. The content of these flavonoids in some Citrus materials collected in Vietnam are also detected and analyzed.
