Vitexin Promotes the Recovery of some Biological Indices in Breast Cancer Patients after Radio Therapy
Vitexin is a product containing flavonoid, extracted from Vigna radiata, which has been traditionally used as antidote in Viet Nam. In a previous series of in vitro, in vivo studies, Vitexin has been proved as strong antioxidant agent. In the present study, Vitexin was given to breast cancer patients in a supplementary thepary for promoting the immune response recovery. The peripheral blood cell, lymphocyte, T-CD4, T-CD8, platelet counts in the groups of patients being treated with Vitexin for two months (4 capsules per day) was higher significantly than those in the control group treated with vitamin C, (P <0,05). The findings suggested that the therapy with Vitexin is benificial for cancer patients after radiothepary, at least in respect of recovering the immune capacity.
