The Chemical Composition of Trau co (Ficus pimula L.)
Trau co is the herb used to replace Vuong bat luu hanh in Traditional Medicine. The research has revealed that Trau co contains saponin, flavonoid, tanin, free sugar, amino acids, steroids, polyssacharide and of alcaloid in the stems and leaves. The total flavonoid content in stems, leaves and fruits of Trau co are 1.22 ± 0.10 (%), 1.17 ± 0.10 (%), 1.12 ± 0.14 (%) respectively; the total saponin content in stems, leaves and fruits of Trau co are 1.15 ± 0.17 (%), 1.19 ± 0.10 (%), 1.05 ± 0.10 (%) respectively. The reducing sugar content in Trau co fruits is 8.42 ± 0.50 (%).
