Evaluation of some Agrobiological Characteristics of Gac Seedling Samples Collected in the North of Vietnam
Experiment on the evaluation of the biological characteristics of some Gacs seedling samples (Momordica cochinchinensis (Lour) Spreng.) was carried out atthe Research Center of Medicinal Plant - Hanoi. The experimental lay-out was completely random method without mentioned again and 50 m2 of experimental plot. The same samples have isolated and then they were named with notation as follow: G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, G7 and G8. Research results showed that:
The different samples have different size of flowers. In which, the G5 sample has the biggest flowers and petals (8.2cm – 3.4cm). The G2 sample has shortestlength and width of petal (5.5 cm and 2.7 cm). Follow to the size of flower gourd showed that: The G6 sample has the length of flower gourd and the ratio of length and width of flower gourd larger than other samples (3.6 cm and 276.9%). Morphology was determined at harvest which found that: the G7 seedlingsample has biggest length and diameter of fruit (22.62 cm and 16.2 cm).
Therefore, the different samples have expressed the difference of morphologic flowers, flower gourd and fruits. This are the important characteristics to identify seedlings, in order to supply for the breeding on the basis of the phenotype of Cochinchinensis samples collected.
