\n\tSimultaneous Determination of Hyperin and Quercitrin in Houttuynia cordata Thunb. Collected
\n\tin Vietnam by HPLC - PDA
\n\tHouttuynia cordata Thunb. is widely used in folk and traditional medicine of many countries in the world. It has long been used for treatment of various diseases, such as anti-inflammation, anti-virus, anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, etc. Some recent researches have showed that H.cordata has new valuable biological effects such as anti-hepatitis, anti-obesity… Flavonoids such as quercitrin and hyperin are known as among active principles of this plant. Previous study on flavonoidal assay of this herb usually determined the level of quercitrin, which may exits in other medicinal plants. In this work, simultaneous HPLC-PDA method for quantitative determination of hyperin and quercitrin were developed. It will be more specific for H.cordata. Validation data provided evidence that the quantitation possessed a good repeatability. Satisfactory LOD and LOQ were reported for hyperin and quercitrin, indicating that the HPLC-PDA method was precise, accurate and sensitive enough for the quantitative evaluation of hyperin and quercitrin in H.cordata.
\n\tThe method was then applied to determine the quantity of hyperin and quercitrin in H. cordata samples, grown in different areas of Vietnam. The contents of hyperin and quercitrin in these areas were compared. The results revealed that the yield of main flavonoids varied in the range from 0,21% up to 0,79% for hyperin and from 0,95% up to 1,83% for quercitrin, depend on the growth conditions (temperature, altitude, etc.) of samples. Results also showed that content of hyperin and quercitrin in leaves of H.cordata is higher than in the stems.
