Reducing Body Weight, Anti-Obesity and Hypoglycemic Effects of Extracts from Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels Fruit Peel on Experimentally Obese and Diabetic Mice

The objective of this study has aimed at investigating the body weight loss, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic effects of Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels fruit peel extracts in experimentally obese and diabetic mice.

The obtained results showed that the body weights and blood cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations of obese mice treated orally daily for three weeks by 1000 mg/kg of CH₂Cl₂, methanol and ethyl acetate concentrated extracts . Particularly, body weight and blood lipid, such as total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-c were reduced clearly in obese mice treated by CH₂Cl₂ concentrated extract of 26,34 %, 23,06 %, 54,78 %, 42,05 % respectively. Especially, the hypoglycemic effect(35,91 %, p < 0,05) of CH₂Cl₂ concentrated extract (1000 mg/kg) in diabetic mice was demonstrated clearly in comparison with the control.
