Research on Chemical Composition and Some Biological Effects toward Treatment of Liver Disease of "Hoang Lien Giai Doc Thang" Remedy

Alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, organic acid, caroten, iridoid were found in liquid extract of remedy. Content of total flavonoid, alkaloid were determined being 1.34% and 0.98% calculated by dried extract absolutely. The pharmacognosy components in remedy can be determined by TLC.

The liquid extract of remedy administrated to mice in dose of  0.1 ml/20 g body weight for 9 consecutive days decreased serum ALT by 36.61% (p < 0.05), increased protein by 5.71% (p > 0.05). The extract in dose of 0.1 ml/20 g for 3 consecutive days increased the bile level by 63.63% (p < 0.05).
