\n\t\tand the Stems of Callisia fragrans
\n\t\tThe preliminary chemical and experimental pharmacological study on the leaves and the stems of Callisia fragrans (Lindl.) Woods. revealed that:
\n\t\t- The leaves and the stems contained flavonoid, carotenoid, phytosterol, organic acid, fatty oil, polysaccharid and free sugars.
\n\t\t- Aqueous leaves extract and ethanol-aqueous stems extract at dose of 50g fresh material/ kg body weigh could not reduce experimental oedema induced by carrageenin in rats.
\n\t\t- Aqueous leaves extract and ethanol-aqueous stems extract have in vitro antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus.
\n\t\t- Leaves and stems extract caused death in mice after a high oral single dose with LD50 = 2430 g fresh material/kg body weigh.
\n\t\tKeywords: Callisia fragrans (Lindl.) Woods., acute toxicity, antibacterial effect.
