\n\tSummary
\n\tA study of some Pharmacological Effects of Calcium Hydroxycitrate (HCCa) and Potassium Hydroxycitrate (HCK) in Albino Mice
\n\tThe HCCa and HCK are converted from hydroxycitric acid in pericarp (rind) of the fruit of Garcinia oblogifolia Champ. ex Benth. Acute toxicity LD50 of HCK is 8.771 g/kg; LD50 of HCCa could not be determined, therefore, HCCa is highly safe. HCK inhibited the increase of total choresterol and triglyceride induced by Triton WR-1339; increased the swimming duration up to 70.4 % (P < 0.05); decreased the body weight and adipose tissue of mice that were fattened during 10 weeks. While HCCa failed to exhibit the above effects. Both HCK and HCCa failed to decrease total cholesterol and triglyceride in serum of mice that were fattened during 10 weeks.
