\n\tStudy on Anti-Hyperglycemic Activity and Cytotoxicity of Litchi Seeds and Fruit Pericarp (Litchi chinensis Sonn.)

\n\tThe 50% ethanol extracts of seeds and fruit pericarps of Litchi chinensis Sonn. were tested for anti-hyperglycemic activity and cytotoxicity. The results showed that the ethanolic seed extract has shown significant blood glucose lowering effect at two doses of 1,5 and 3 g/kg in alloxan-induced diabetic mice. On the cytotoxic test  the n-hexan extract of Litchi fruit pericarps exhibited inhibitory activity against 2 cancer cell lines MCF-7 and A549 with IC₅₀ values  37,45 μg/ml and 58,1 μg/ml, respectively.
