\n\tChemical Composition of Essential Oils from the Rhizome of Some Acorus Species Growing in Thua Thien Hue Province - Vietnam
\n\tSome plants of Acorus genus are well-known herbs in Vietnam for their traditional medicinal uses. We reinvestigated the extract from rhizome of someAcorus plants growing in Thua Thien Hue. The chemical composition of the essential oils of their rhizome were analysed by the GC/MS method. There are two species of Acorus in Thua Thien Hue. The major component of essential oils from the rhizome of one species is asaron and of the other is methyl isoeugenol.
\n\tAsaron was isolated and purified by crystallization in n-hexan and its structure has been confirmed by 1H- and 13C-NMR. Besides, we also isolated a white crystal. It is a mixture of two components. One of them is recognized as b‑sitosterol by MS, 1H- and 13C-NMR. This constituent is first isolated from the extract of rhizome of Acorus gramineus Soland. in Vietnam.
